Life in a magic world

The day started early as the morning son reaches horizon pretty early in North Eastern States. I completed my morning walk of almost two k.m. and returned to the hostel by 6.30 am. Had a cup of hot tea outside in a small shop. The chilling cold prevailed till 9 am. Some pictures of the morning of Shillong will definitely pull your mind and tempt you to visit this place next time.  The city is built on the hill slopes. Beautiful demonstration of the skill of man to occupy the serene hill slope.  Our team prepared the schedule to cover the local attractions that day. At first we visited Don Bosco Museum. Our Thai student Lam Manish in action A trip with my students (MTTM) to Assam & Meghalaya was indeed a great experience as a teacher. Every single moment of this trip was worth to remember. Our train Okha - Guwahati train reached the destination with a delay of around 10 hours or so. Tired faces and still excited faces as many of my students were going to north eastern states of India first time in their life. Its one of the very popular temples in India and amba-buchi mela held in June every year attracts huge amount of pilgrims. We reached the temple at around 7.30 am in the morning and stood in que to get darshan. The waiting continued till  3.15 pm in the afternoon, meanwhile many students were badly hungry as the belief to have darshan of the Goddes...

It was about 6 pm in the evening on 10.10.2017(Tuesday). I was bit nervous that I would be slightly late to reach my destination. But I reached the place of my meeting on right time– the home of Prof. T V Singh, the great master of Indian Tourism Education. When I opened the gate, some one came outside to lead us to the place Prof. Tej Vir Singh was waiting. (Later, I realised that the person who led us was Dr. Sagar Singh, son of Prof. Tej Vir Singh.) A study room with several collection of books all around. Some of the titles include the writings of Prof. Singh with renowned scholars from different parts of the world, and some of them are authored by his own students.. The seminar and discussions on the theme and related topics shaken my self confidence. It is a fact that we have to progress in every aspect of our education. There is no specific time devoted for research in universities (in India) especially in humanities subjects. The routine discourses praises each others work and forget the requirement of the present day world. Focussed research work is lacking in our university system, as a result the research findings have no relevance to the reflection of our society, changes in cultural devolution or progress in outward thinking.  University of Seville is having a heritage of 500 years or so, but the learning practices are modernised according to the needs of time. Incubation of innovative ideas come from researches and studies.
