In the land of clouds and rain….Chirrapunjee….

The day was reserved to experience the rainy land.  Cherapunjee was once recorded as the place having highest rainfall. Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Sohra After quick breakfast from the guest house we all got ready to move in to the hills. The first sight seeing point was Shillong Hill view. Then enroute the bus stopped at several spots where we can find the beautiful waterfalls . the landscape of the area make you feel that you are travelling to the end of the world. Utmost silence everywhere. Vehicles goes on a convoy basis as there is no frequent transportation available in these areas. We stopped for a brief visit to the Ramakrishna Mission Asram at  Sohra (old name of Cherrrapunjee also means land of oranges) Next stop is Cherrapunjee. in the land of clouds-A journey through the cleanest village of Asia, living root bridge, and Bangladesh Border

we started our most exciting part of the tour on 16 March. The itinerary was like this Living root bridge Mawlynnong (Asias cleanest village) Daki-Bangladesh Border 10 km from Shillong we had our first stop. A wonderful waterfall. The water level was low, but the cascading levels created a beautiful backdrop in the pine land gave us a refreshing experience.  Enroute to Mawlyinnong we came across beautiful landscapes. The mist and clouds just ran in front of us as if they are competing with our bus.  The road almost disappeared many times as it  though fog lamp was on. Enroute we stopped for tea break and many students started making selfies. My health was deteriorating as fever and throat pain was taking full control of me. 15.03.2018 We attended the International conference organised by Dept. of Tourism and Hospitality Management. We all reached well before time and the delegates of the conference exclaimed to see that students in uniform attend the conference. PRof. SP Bansal, Prof. Manjula Chowdhary, PRof. Sandeep Kulshreshta etc. acknowledged the good behaviour of our students and spend some time in appreciating them. The team of research scholars were already reached and the echo of BHU tourism was resounding in the hall.  The Hon'ble Governor, Meghalaya, inaugurated the programme in presence of other distinguished guests present on the occasion. Students of Tourism of NEHU, received the guests on Khasi outfits and every ones attention was focused at the ceremonious tradition. The sessions went on till evening as some of our students went to explore the east Khasi Hills whereas others made friendship with the local students.  In the evening, the dinner was arranged at the gu
