Walking in Clouds

Don’t know how I woke up so early that day. Perhaps the call of Dr. Pravin (hereafeter Pravinji) made me to open my eyes and check the time. Its 7.15 am. Too early to say bye to bed; at 7.30 a.m. At least it was too early for me !

The rays of morning sun peep through the windows. Temptations to see the morning beauty of Kanasar build pressure in mind. Loud voice of Capt. P.K.Singh (Hereafter Capt. Sir) and Pravinji from the woods. Tracing them through the half opened eyes and slipping steps I am out of the guest house now.

What these people are doing yaar so early? Capt. Sir is holding Praveenji, whereas he is trying to have a full snap of the thick forest cover in front of our guest house. It strike my photographic sense, and thought I should also move out to capture something left over.

Deodar trees add shades with the mist that hold the mountains as if the embrace of love between desperate lovers. The rays of sun come as a villain to separate them….. No word is sufficient here to explain the purity of air or scenic beauty of our new location… !

The sun rays already covered up the hills by decorating the golden peaks of snow. Deodars and Casuarina trees welcome the morning sun. (the branches of Deodar grow parallel and it gives alook of hands of tree Gods). Pravinji is busy with his camera whereas Capt. Sir is busy in observing the surroundings.

An early morning in a hilly, country side always welcome with a cup of tea, but for me at least 2-3 cups of tea is required to start a day. But here the situation is different. No kitchen is free for me or nobody knows that I am a tea lover. By the Grace of God got a small cup of hot black ginger tea to pacify my morning thirst.

Its breakfast time now. All students were on fresh energy to move for an exciting outdoor trip. Our plans to go to Maiya Top is changed to near by place. We planned to move to the nearest hill top. The trek was lead by captain sir, followed by the disciplined students of our 3rd Sem. M.T.A and last was me as usual. Make sure that none goes out of track.

The walk through the main road soon moved to the apple garden of Harish (our tour leader) where the valley is surrounded by gorgeous hills, with deodar trees. A dreamful plan takes shape in the minds of Dr. Pravin. Harish explained that apples are not available at the time of our visit, as the trees are afraid of us who come with the greed to even eat the apple plants.

This is the time to prune apple plants to have a good season ahead. We kept our disappointment kept in our selves, left the bare trees behind, and moved to the next spot. The solid blue metal road soon changed in to an off track where virtually the face of our students turned pale where the muddy track thrown fears in mind. It was visible in the minds of Mr. Stronger of our group =Rohitwa!(Bhojpuri).

Meanwhile, I searched for the help of a support (not partner), as all students were very selfish to leave such a weak person in the back! Got a stick to support my body weight and I move ahead. Everybody was surprised to see me that they have got an old man in 35s.

Every ones face reflected freshness, enthusiasm and high energy level. 22boys, 2 girls, and 3 teachers. The equation is not right for trip like this as the grievance of the boys was quite visible. This occasion reminded of us the grim future, if the sex ratio continue to go down in India.

The road ahead changed to a small track now, indicating more danger ahead. A steep climb is waiting for us. Capt. Sir, maintained army codes, but with a cheerful face,(he would have understood that he is leading a group of civilians) where as Pravinji was busy to frame snaps of leafs, trees, flowers, etc. (excluding him), whereas I was moving with the support of a stick, like a person in his 90s in the back of the line (later the stick helped me to maintain the discipline of some of the most disciplined guys).

There is a narrow road just ahead. Several photographic scenes to capture in Camera. Everyone is busy in taking photograph of the scenic beauty, but the images reflected the beauty of their faces rather than nature). Everyone might have definitely dreamt of their loved ones nearby while moving through such romantic places.

Tiredness pushed Sanjay Bhaiya (one-who always missed his wife in this entire trip) along with the thought of his honeymoon days, he pushed himself to complete the trip some way. The girls found more energetic, that at least forced many boys to move each step fast, though with great agony.

As the climb become very hard and tiring, Acchu (Archana) got her bhaiya (Rohit & Satya) to help her while Madhu was helped by Dev & Gaurav. Thank god there was no leady teacher with us………………………… (otherwise…Who would have jumped to help)

Veeru baba was scolded by me many times to catch-up up the pace of the group, where Naveen (Crybaby of our group) seems totally lost while looking at the dangerous slopes. There were patches of old trees felled down to transfer into depot. The glimpses of the villages down in the valley were really captivating.

Everyone was in great astonishment because many of our team members never went in trekking and had chance to have pure oxygen before. The dangerous slopes moved us to a meadow where the had a break around 2.15p.m. in search of water, Captain sir and Harish moved further ahead with me. We found a local sheperd coming ahead of us. In the local dielect Harish conveyed his message to find the source of water, and the answer made us happy. Our walk lasted for 15min. of walk we found the Saraswati (7spring)ahead where there is a beautiful meadow. Harish brought every one in another 30min.

A very romantic location….if you are alone (without your loved one) you definetly miss some one. Soon seated ourselves on the top most point of the place- a rcok peice, we were ready to have our presicious noon meal (puri, sabji, achar). Fresh collected from a near by spring atsted as honey. A cool breeze around and complete silence. Tall Deodar trees all around. What you need more. Hope I would have got enlightment if I had stayed there for more days.

The return moment started at 3.30 p.m. The return trek to the down hill took less time as Harsih took us through a short cut road. By 4.30 we reached our camp site back. Every one were very happy that they reach the base without much risk. The day ended with a happy note of a beautiful experience, but light pain in the joints and leg. Capt. Sir was ready for another trek, where as Praveenji and me were tired enough to move to bed… END of a colourful and memorable day……
