International Travel in Cow Class…..with full of Indians… think twice…

Location:
Kula Lumpur Low Cost Terminal easy to call LCCT. thousands of people travel from here to different part of the world. We were waiting at the main waiting room to see the boarding time.
Departure time is 2.30 p.m. Baggage X Ray is is done and check in procedures are over. Another one hour.

2.00 p.m.: gates to boarding place was opened. Less than 50 chairs. Two –three duty free shops. All are crowded. That’s it.An international airport where there is no duty free area near to boarding gates. As we are first time travelers to Malaysia it was a big disappointment. Pls don’t think that I had a huge shopping budget, but atleast I thought to buy two bottles of Johny Walker. The rates are also high. The boarding point is crowded with passengers. Busy selection of branded perfumes, cigars, liquor are going on. All are upset because there is no time for shopping as the boarding is already started.

Counters are crowded, altercations are going on , everyone want to pay first as they are afraid of the flights departure..All pax are Indians. As we know Indian’s are crazy in shopping.

Suddenly everyones attention moved to the que where there was again a dispute between two pax. There is no patience to stand in que, and the other fellow is raising voice against breaking que.

At the end boarded the flight. The smile of cabin crew soon disappeared, as some of the pax. Were busy to locate seats, keep their hand luggage in proper place. From the behavior It was easy to make out that some of the pax had a fear that they have to travel in standing position. Some one is busy to say bye through mobiles, some one is busy t click snaps, where some one is in heat discussion to exchange seats.

We were in the middle of a group of pax who were travelling together (belong to a particular community) and were in a fix to occupy our chairs. Announcement of the cabin crew became a soft threatening as none was in a mood to take their seat or fasten seat belt.

Someone came hurriedly at the last, as he was lost somewhere in the city. Still the aisle was busy as the group sitting close to us were talking loudly. The elder person sits next to a gentle lady (seems husband) was really a nonsense creature, as he was talking very loudly through mobile, telling every one in Malaysia goodbye. Rememebr using electronic gadgets at the time of take off and landing is prohibited.

This time the voice of the cabin crew become very rude and announcements become threats/shoutings. A poor (--a small girl with weak physique but attractive face) hostess was helpless to lift a carry bag which might be weighing more than 10 kgs.

It took 5 minutes extra to settle the pax before the flight moved for take off. Some of the cabin crew were smiling each other, while seeing the behavior of the Indian crowd in the flight.

Even the flights was on the move some of our co pax were busy in talking and trying to be over smart by walking through the aisle. It seems some one had a terrible urology issues as he was standing in front of the loo, when the flight was about to take off.

One smart hostess came and blasted the fellow in English and Malay, fortunately this fellow couldnot understand anything but turned himself back to the seat.

The flight was started and the gentleman sat in front of us (mentioned early) was quite restless. The gentle lady opened up the bag and started opening the Masala (Pan masala). The entire aircraft was filled up with the smell of Pan masala.

Listening all the loud chats of co-pax, we tried to embrace sleep as we were quite tired since morning. I woke up in the middle of some voices, realised that the gentle lady was trying to circulate the food stuff to their copax, who were travelling together. The flight is a low cost one, but the truly Indian nature of carrying food while travelling, but the homely made food was enjoyed lavishly by the pax.

Soon after diet, the gentle lady vacated her seat as her hubby to sleep in the triple seat as if he got a private bed.

There were many pax moving here and there, queing up in front of the loo, taking snaps etc. in the flight.

Three hours and thirty minutes of our flights ended when our flight landed in Kolkata. And the same behavior reflected in the immigration counter, baggage collection area and the exit point.

Air Asia bend the rules for Indian Pax to offload all cowclass pax in turn flying experience is nothing different than general compartment (IIsitting) of Indian railways.

Note : 1. This might be a strategy of Air Asia to maintain the Occupancy level

2. Premier business management schools in India can take case study of Indian customer behavior through this.

3. I still don’t understand how we change ourselves when we are in a different country and when how we behave when we come back to India
