Paradiso...

When we four of us landed up in Kuala Lumpur a smell of strangeness felt everywhere. Our bus driver was kind enough to drop us exactly in front of the Hostel/hotel. Time : 2.00 am, local time in Kuala Lumpur. We are still going with Indian standard time that’s 11.30 p.m in India. The city seems to be alive, people, vehicles, restaurants and shops everywhere lights and movement. The small glow board of Paradiso guided us to take the steep steps up to the reception. A clean shaven young man came up from the reception opened the door. We show our booking and soon he guided us to the room.

I felt odd when our foot wears removed at the entrance. Then we moved to the room. A two tier 4 beded room. AC seems to be not functioning. Thrown our bags one side of the room and opened the curtain a telescreen at the opposite. The monorail track and station just opposite.

Slipped in to the sleep and when we woke up it was 11 am in Kula Lumpur. Rushed to the bathroom. Small clean washroom. But the dustbin was full. Plastic doors and open upside. It was strange to sit in the toilet. Then bathroom. Same style. A kind of shock where in the home country everything was a private property. Here everything is on sharing basis.

After freshened up, we moved to the breakfast table. The host seems to be little indifferent as we are late. But Dr. Pravin’s request made him cool and helped us to prepare our breakfast. Juice, Toasted bread, jam and Tea/Coffee.

Very simple but elegant arrangements. The reception is a a friendly place for the strangers. Slowly we could get ourselves in to the cultural and social life of Malaysia by interacting Mr. Ruthlee. Paradiso is an international hostel and mainly back packers prefer to stay here. People from across the world, no boundaries of language food habits or life style.

A small notice serves as a caution to the occupants. “ Avoid the unprofessional massage centre in the first floor.” I doubted, perhaps, it may invite more customers from upstairs. Because every time when we come up, we are cordially invited by two/three beautiful girls sitting and canvassing guests.

Our room was located just infront of the Bukit Bintang Monorail Station and easy to access from KL Central and KLCC. Evening are the beauty of Kuala Lumpur where the streets are filled with tourists, couples and active life everywhere.

Mr. Uncle( the elder person really helped us when our crazy friend wanted to purchase a Japanese umbrella. Though we walked for hours through shopping centres, he helped us to find the best Japanese shop in that mall.

Paradiso is a good place to stay for backpackers as it offers cheap, clean and best accommodation. The hostel staff is very warm, helpful and friendly…..
